The BHRC launches on the 5 February 2013 a report on a pre-trial hearing in the case of 46 Turkish lawyers, Istanbul Heavy Penal Court, Koaeli prison, Silivri, which took place on the 3rd January 2013. There have been three one-day hearings to date: July 2012, 6thNovember 2012 and most recently on 3rd January 2013....
The Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, and the Bar Human Rights Committee expressed concern at reports that the Saket Bar Association and the Delhi Bar Association have resolved not to represent the men charged with rape and murder of a 23 year old student. The BHRC is extremely concerned by the arrest of a further 15 lawyers in Turkey on the 16th January 2013. The 15 lawyers are human rights lawyers working in Istanbul and across seven provinces in Turkey. To see the statement click here
