12 September 2011	The BHRC and the Commonwealth Lawyers Association release a statement on the abduction of Shahbaz Taseer in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan based on its previous observation of an atmosphere of fear and intimidation surrounding the blasphemy laws in Pakistan.
06 September 2011	The BHRC is recruiting interns for immediate start to assist with researching and compiling training material for a manual to accompany training for Zimbabwean lawyers and human rights defenders in relation to fundamental freedoms - see here for more information and how to apply.
03 September 2011	Alongside the International Bar Association's Human Rights Institute, the Law Society of England and Wales and the Spanish Society for International Human Rights, the BHRC submitted an amicus curiae in the case of Manuel Valle v State of Florida. Despite international efforts to halt Mr Valle's execution, the Supreme Court of the United States denied the petition and he was executed on 29 September 2011.
