BHRC Units

In addition to country-based projects globally, the BHRC focuses its work around core thematic human rights issues and approaches, and has established a number of units to coordinate its work accordingly. The BHRC is currently developing a Democratic Reform Unit.

    In autumn 2009, the BHRC established a Child Rights Unit (CRU). The aim of the CRU is to provide direct legal assistance to lawyers, human rights defenders, NGOs and grassroots organisations on the protection of child rights addressed by the core international conventions and associated optional protocols, including

    International Litigation and Advisory Unit

    Women's Rights Unit

    In February 2011, the BHRC established the Women's Rights Unit (WRU) to focus on women’s human rights and gender discrimination in specific and existing projects. The aim of the WRU is to build on the considerable work undertaken by the BHRC in this field. In the past, the BHRC has conducted training and fact-finding missions on the rights of women and human rights abuses on women, including gender specific violence.
